With decades of combined experience in both upstream and midstream, we have the knowledge and expertise in engineering, construction, operations, commercial and project management to provide tailored midstream solutions focused on meeting the needs of producer customers.

Hal Bertram
Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer

Mr. Bertram is Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer of Sendero Midstream. His career has included experience in geology, land management, midstream assets, marketing and trading oil and gas products.

Prior to joining Sendero, he ran his own consulting company HKB Resources, L.P for 13 years where he provided upstream and midstream services to oil and gas producing companies.

Prior to HKB Resources, L.P. Hal was Director at Enron Capital and Trade for 9 years where he ran gas & power desks and M&A for Intrastate Gas Pipeline Companies in the intrastate pipeline markets within southern Louisiana and the Gulf Coast regions.

Prior to Enron, Hal was with Eastex Energy and Texaco, Inc and Texaco Gas Marketing, providing services to producers in the upstream and downstream markets.

Hal holds a BBA in Management / Petroleum from the University of Texas at Austin, a MS in Geology from Stephen F. Austin State University, and a BS in Geology from the University of Texas at Dallas.

Matt Briscoe
Senior Vice President – Engineering

Mr. Briscoe joined Sendero Midstream Partners in 2021 as the SVP of Engineering. He was previously with Intensity Midstream.  Mr. Briscoe has extensive experience executing crude oil pipeline, cryogenic gas processing, refrigeration, treating, fractionation, terminals and other midstream projects.
Prior to Intensity, Mr. Briscoe served as Vice President of Engineering at Hiland Partners, where he joined as Director of Engineering in February 2008. Prior to joining Hiland, Mr. Briscoe served as Director of Engineering and Manager of Engineering for Frontier Field Services in Tulsa, Oklahoma from June 2005 until February 2008. Prior to joining Frontier Field Services, Mr. Briscoe was a Senior Project Manager, System Coordinator, and Gas Supply Project Engineer for OG&E/Enogex from January 2001 until June 2005. He also held various positions with Bateman/Merrick LLC, Western Gas Resources and Southwestern Company from 1995 until 2001.
Mr. Briscoe holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Oklahoma State University.  Mr. Briscoe served as the President of Habitat for Humanity in Enid, Oklahoma, for four years from 2011 – 2015. 

Clint Cone
Director – Operations

Mr. Cone is Director of Operations for the Carlsbad area.  He has over 35 years of career experience spanning the E&P and midstream segments of the industry. 

Most recently, he worked at Anadarko Petroleum in a Supervisory role managing operations of cryogenic and amine treating plants in the Delaware Basin asset. Prior to Anadarko, he spent 2 years as the Superintendent for Nuevo Midstream, constructing and operating multiple cryo plants, compressor stations, amine plants, JT skids, stabilizers, dehy’s and gas gathering pipelines. 

Clint began his career with Shell Western E&P in the startup and operation of CO2 recovery plants in the Permian Basin. He was a Team Leader involved in set up and design for Altura, a startup formed in 1999 by Shell Western E & P and Amoco Production.  Altura was acquired by Occidental in 2002.

Mark Freed
Senior Vice President – Permian Basin Development

Mark J. Freed joined Sendero Midstream Partners in 2021 as Senior Vice President – Development in the Permian Basin.  Prior to SMP, Mr. Freed was with Intensity Midstream and served as the Senior Vice President of Rockies Business Developments.  Mr. Freed has over 18 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, including roles in crude oil marketing and trading, mergers and acquisitions, midstream business development and investor relations.
Mr. Freed most recently served as Chief Commercial Officer for Bakken Oil Express (BOE) Midstream, LLC, a private midstream company with transportation, trans-loading and terminalling assets in the Williston Basin. From 2012-2014, Mr. Freed served as a Vice President in the Commodities Division at Goldman Sachs (J. Aron & Company) in Houston where he was responsible for origination and client coverage of physical crude oil trading opportunities throughout North America. From 2005-2012, Mr. Freed held a number of leadership positions with High Sierra Energy, LP, through the partnership’s merger with NGL Energy Partners, LP. Mr. Freed served as Senior Vice President – High Sierra Crude Oil & Marketing, where he was responsible for crude oil lease trading and business development, and as Vice President – Investor Relations and Business Development.
Mr. Freed holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from The Pennsylvania State University.

Derek Gipson
President and Chief Financial Officer

Derek G. Gipson is the President and Chief Financial Officer of Sendero Midstream Partners, joining the team in 2021.  Prior to joining the Sendero team, Mr. Gipson co-founded Intensity Midstream in June 2015 and served as President and Chief Financial Officer.
Prior to Intensity, Mr. Gipson served as Chief Financial Officer, Executive Vice President - Finance, Secretary, and a director of the general partner of Hiland Partners, LP (owned by Harold Hamm) from September 2011 until Hiland’s acquisition by Kinder Morgan, Inc. in February 2015. Mr. Gipson was appointed Vice President - Business Development and Corporate Planning for Hiland Partners, LP in January 2010. Prior to Hiland, Mr. Gipson worked with Wachovia Securities where he was a member of its Energy & Power Investment Banking Group. Mr. Gipson joined Wachovia in October 2007 through its acquisition of A.G. Edwards & Sons, Inc., where Mr. Gipson was a member of the A.G. Edwards Energy Investment Banking Group. Prior to joining A.G. Edwards in December 2003, Mr. Gipson was an Audit Associate with Deloitte & Touche LLP in its St. Louis, Missouri office where he earned a CPA certificate.
Mr. Gipson graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Finance.  Mr. Gipson serves on the Board of Directors of FTS International, Inc. (NYSE American: FTSI), a publicly-traded oil and gas well completion company operating in North America.

Joe Griffin
Chief Executive Officer

Joseph L. Griffin joined Sendero Midstream Partners in 2021 as the Chief Executive Officer.  Prior to Sendero, Mr. Griffin co-founded Intensity Midstream in 2015. Where he also served as the Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Griffin has more than 25 years of experience in the midstream natural gas industry.
Prior to Intensity Mr. Griffin was Chief Executive Officer, President and a director of Hiland Partners, LP (owned by Harold Hamm) from June 2007 until Hiland’s acquisition by Kinder Morgan, Inc. in February 2015. From 2004 to June 2007, Mr. Griffin served as executive vice president over multiple facets of the business of Lumen Midstream Company, a subsidiary of the Southern Ute Indian Tribe, in Tulsa, OK. In 1989, Mr. Griffin co-founded Lumen Midstream, held various senior level management positions and served as a director until Lumen was sold in 2004 to the Southern Ute Indian Tribe.

Mr. Griffin holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Oklahoma State University. In addition, Mr. Griffin is an active volunteer for non-profit organizations in the Tulsa community, including former Chairman of the Board of 12 & 12, Inc. and the Finance Committee of San Miguel. He serves on Special Committees of Bishop Kelley High School and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Matthew Griffin
Senior Vice President and Chief Midstream Services Officer

Matthew Griffin joined Sendero is July 2021 and is the Senior Vice President & Chief Midstream Services Officer.  Mr. Griffin has extensive experience in commercial development and mergers and acquisitions, as well as managing midstream engineering and construction projects.  

Prior to joining Intensity through its combination with Xplorer Midstream in November 2016, Mr. Griffin served as the Director of Business Development of Xplorer since September 2014.  Previously, Mr. Griffin served as the Manager of Business Development and Engineering for Access Midstream.  In addition, Mr. Griffin previously served in various project management and engineering roles with Chesapeake Midstream.

Mr. Griffin holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Oklahoma and an M.S. in Engineering Management from the University of Texas at Austin.

Mike Higgins
Senior Vice President – Operations and Pipeline Construction

Mike Higgins joined Sendero Midstream Partners in 2021 as the Senior Vice President of Operations and Pipeline Construction.  He was previously with Intensity in January 2016 and served as Senior Vice President of Operations and Pipeline Construction.  Mr. Higgins’ industry experience involves managing the safe and efficient construction and operation of significant midstream compression, pipeline, treating, fractionation, terminal and processing facilities.
Prior to Intensity, Mr. Higgins served as Vice President of Operations and Midstream Construction at Hiland Partners. He joined Hiland as Manager of Technical Services in 2006. Mr. Higgins was promoted at Hiland to Manager of Operations Southern Region in 2007 and to Director of Operations and Midstream Construction in September 2012. Prior to joining Hiland, Mr. Higgins served as Area Superintendent – Western Oklahoma & Texas Panhandle Field Assets for Chesapeake Energy from 2005 until 2006. Mr. Higgins also served as Owner/Operator of Frontier Field Services from 2001 until 2005. He also held various Project Manager and Field Operator positions at CMS Field Services from 1998 until 2001.
Mr. Higgins holds an Associate degree in Applied Sciences from Independence Community College.

Emily Mills
Senior Vice President – Corporate Strategy

Emily Mills, Senior Vice President of Corporate Strategy, joined Sendero Midstream Partners in 2021.  She was previously with Intensity also serving as Senior Vice President of Corporate Strategy.
Prior to Intensity, Ms. Mills served as Chief Financial and Strategy Officer of EcoVapor Recovery Systems, a private equity-backed company headquartered in Denver, Colorado. She served as Vice President of Business Development for Jagged Peak Energy from 2019 until the company’s successful merger with Parsley Energy in 2020. Prior to that, Ms. Mills was part of the investment team of Quantum Energy Partners from 2013 - 2019. Before joining Quantum, she was an investment banking analyst with Jefferies and a structural engineer with KBR, Inc.
Ms. Mills holds her Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Rice University.

Jen Morrill
Director – Human Resources

Ms. Morrill is the Director of Human Resources for Sendero Midstream Partners, LP.  With a strong focus on recruiting and retaining the top industry talent, Ms. Morrill brings more than 18 years of experience in employee relations to the Sendero team. 

Ms. Morrill began her career in marketing with Houston based, Broussard Advertising but made a transition in 1995 to Human Resources with a Satellite Tracking of People LLC, a start-up technology company, growing from a core team of 5 employees into a mid-size company with over 100 employees.  Here she developed and implemented the Human Resources department from its foundation. 

Ms. Morrill holds a B.A. from Texas A&M University and Human Resources certification from Rice University, Glasscock School of Continuing Education. 

Ed Sereno
Executive Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer

Mr. Sereno is the Executive Vice President and Chief Accounting Officer of Sendero Midstream. He has over 25 years of career accounting and management experience in publicly-traded energy businesses.

His experience includes leading finance and accounting teams in the U.S. and internationally with responsibility for accounting, treasury, tax, financing and loan compliance, planning and reporting in over 25 countries. Mr. Sereno has also led numerous international and U.S. acquisitions and divestitures and has served as a director on various joint venture boards of directors. Mr. Sereno served as the Vice President and Controller for the Power and International segment at Coastal Corporation and El Paso Corporation and as the CFO for El Paso in South America. Most recently, Mr. Sereno was Controller at Pattern Energy Group Inc. during their IPO process.

Ed has a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from Virginia Tech and is a licensed Certified Public Accountant and also a Chartered Global Management Accountant.

Jeremy Spalvieri
Vice President – Environmental, Health and Safety

Jeremy Spalvieri joined Sendero Midstream in July 2021, and is the Vice President of Environmental, Health and Safety. Mr. Spalvieri’s responsibilities include corporate environmental, social and governance (ESG) strategy and compliance with federal and state environmental, safety, PSM and pipeline safety regulations.

Prior to joining Sendero, Mr. Spalvieri was the Vice President – EHS at Intensity Midstream where he led the corporate ESG and regulatory compliance program.  Previously, Mr. Spalvieri worked as the Corporate Safety Manager for The Williams Companies, Inc. following Williams’ merger with Access Midstream. At Williams, Access Midstream and Chesapeake Midstream, Mr. Spalvieri led several departments and integration efforts ranging from corporate safety & health, contractor safety, corporate process safety, EHS auditing and EHS systems, technologies & education. Prior to joining Chesapeake Midstream in 2010, Mr. Spalvieri spent two years in Chesapeake Energy’s corporate EHS department. Mr. Spalvieri’s career began in 2005 at the Oklahoma Department of Labor where he spent three years in the OSHA Consultation Division as a Safety Consultant.

Mr. Spalvieri hold Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Occupational Safety and Health from Southeastern Oklahoma State University.  Mr. Spalvieri enjoys coaching youth sports through the local YMCA, volunteering at Infant Crisis Services in Oklahoma City, is a Red Cross certified disaster assessment volunteer and has served in the local chapter of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
