President & CEO
Mr. Bretches is the President & CEO of Sendero Midstream. He has spent his career gaining a broad base of experience in all sectors of energy, including upstream, midstream and marketing. Prior to joining Sendero, he worked at Anadarko for 14 years and held various executive management positions, including leadership of Anadarko's global crude oil, natural gas, and natural gas liquids marketing organization. He subsequently led the Exploration and Production Services division that provided centralized commercial, technical, and logistical support to all of Anadarko's worldwide operations. He has a deep understanding of midstream and marketing operations and was instrumental in the formation of Western Gas Partners, a highly successful midstream MLP created by Anadarko in 2008. Prior to joining Anadarko, Clay led the crude oil marketing and midstream operations for Vastar Resources. He started his energy career at Arco as an engineer, working on various drilling, completion and reservoir engineering projects in West Texas and Mid-Continent areas of operation. His education includes a BS in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M and an MBA from the University of Texas. Commissioned as an officer into the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers from Texas A&M, he served in various leadership positions in the U.S. Army reserve. Clay is based in Sendero's Houston headquarters and serves on the Sendero Board of Directors. He serves on the Advisory Council of the Electric Power Research Institute and is the past Board of Directors president of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation – Gulf Coast Chapter.
